We are delighted today to share details of our new No Time for Waste communications campaign which aims to drive awareness of our leadership on the issue of food waste in Ireland whilst also driving recruitment of new causes to collect surplus food from our stores.
As you know, we’ve made a clear commitment to ensure that no good food will go to waste from our stores by 2020, and to achieve this we need to work together as a business, with FoodCloud, with the charitable sector and with our suppliers.
We are proud to have donated nearly 5 million meals so far to those in need by working with 300 local good causes across the country, but we can do more, and so we’re again calling on our colleagues and customers to help us to find more groups to support with surplus food.
This messaging, along with a thank you to customers and colleagues for helping us to recruit new causes since our campaign last October, is at heart of our new TV ad which went live on air over the weekend
We had a special takeover of the magazine and ad features in the weekend’s Irish Times too, a copy of which has been left on your desks today – please take some time to have a read.
We’re also bringing No Time for Waste to life for customers in stores, across point of sale on checkouts and self-scans, community board take-overs and colleague badge surrounds and a full suite of internal comms materials too. We’ve taken a regional approach to local media for this campaign, with targeted press ads in 40 local publications such to bring it to life at a grass roots level, supported by radio stings and promotions across seven regional radio stations too. Our social and digital media platforms are supporting the campaign too – make sure to look out for content on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Our PR campaign focuses on regional media too, sharing case studies of the local groups who benefit from our surplus food donations.
We are very proud of this campaign and the incredible work that happens in our stores every day to donate surplus food, work that continues to grow as we form more partnerships with local groups as we work towards ensuring no good food goes to waste.
