Our annual Christmas Appeal takes place this weekend, December 7th, 8th and 9th across 108 of our stores, office and the distribution centre. Hosted in partnership with local FoodCloud causes, the aim is to provide these causes with a boost to the donations they normally receive from us, in the weeks running up to Christmas.
For most of us Christmas is a very happy time spent with family and friends. Unfortunately, however, this is not the reality for everyone as Christmas can be a lonely or difficult time for some.
All of the partner causes participating in the Tesco Christmas Appeal are already participants in our surplus food donations programme operated in partnership with FoodCloud. These causes benefit from surplus food donations all year round from Tesco stores in their local communities.
Our Christmas Appeal is a chance for these causes to receive additional donations to help support as many people in need as possible over the festive period and volunteers from local causes will be in stores to collect all donations over the weekend.
We are asking colleagues and customers to donate non-perishable foods such as tea, coffee, biscuits, breakfast cereals and tinned goods and also non-food items such as toiletries, nappies, small clothing items (hat scarves and gloves) and toys.
Last year we supported over 125 causes nationwide through our Christmas Appeal.
Let’s get out there and help ramp up support for your local cause! Together we can make Christmas wonderful for everyone!
