Colleagues raise €110,000 for Temple Street in the Great Irish Bake

Monday 8th April, 2019

Last Friday colleagues across the country baked up a storm and hosted the Great Irish Bake for Temple Street and we are delighted to announce that with your support we raised a phenomenal €110,000!! This means that we have now raised over €4.3 million for the little heroes in Temple Street! Colleagues went above and beyond to make some amazing showstopper bakes and an unbelievable amount of buns, pies, biscuits and cakes.

Check out our video to get a sense of the amazing atmosphere we had in stores for the Great Irish Bake.

Thanks to our colleagues and our customers’ generosity, our fundraising will allow us to replace the hospital’s Ophthalmology YAG Laser which is used to improve a patient’s vision after cataract surgery. The current piece of equipment is over 20 years old and the replacement will allow the hospital to give patients the best aftercare possible. Click here to read a Thank You letter from Temple Street expressing their gratitude.

Each year we see the level of talent and competition rise with so many show stopping entries into our Star Baker competition, however one cake really caught our eye. Congratulations to Daiga in our Portlaoise store who baked this fantastic Easter chocolate masterpiece.  Daiga will receive the grand prize of a KitchenAid Stand Mixer to help them to continue making masterpieces!

We also held a ‘Best Display on the Day’ competition which tasked stores to get creative with their bake sales and create the best display to grab customer’s attention. Congratulations to Claremorris who have won €500 for their social fund and Paul Street who won €250 for their social fund.

Make sure to check out the next issue of T-time to see some of the amazing creations, and some of the many fantastic photos that colleagues have shared from their event.

A massive well done to everyone who took part in the bake and who contributed to this wonderful achievement.
