Over 1,320 local causes across Dublin share donation of €315,000 thanks to customer votes in the Tesco Community Fund
Finglas First Responders get overwhelming response from local community in North Dublin
In Dublin alone, over 1,320 local good causes have shared a donation of €315,000 since the launch of the Tesco Community Fund initiative last year.
One community cause that was nominated for the Tesco Community Fund is the Finglas First Responders. Nominated twice for the fund, the Finglas First Responders are a volunteer community life saving group, providing fast response to cardiac and emergency events until an ambulance arrives. First responders are dispatched after a 999 call comes through and the HSE are notified. The Responders programme spans a 2km radius so emergency cases can be reached in eight minutes.
Bill Mullen, one of the volunteers said: “The donation from the Tesco Community Fund programme has helped us buy new training equipment like our new CPR Mannequin and Training AED; this allows us to train new Responders and to help keep our own skills up to date. We’d like to say a big thank you to Tesco and to our community for nominating and voting for us.”
Tesco customers across Dublin have been quick to show their sporting pride, voting proportionately for more Community Sports Clubs than any other county across Ireland. These include a number of Community Clubs from Rugby to GAA, Tennis to Boxing as well as Rowing to Karate.
